Starter zone

Cloudmist Valley

A single misty valley, 200 by 200 units, from a lantern-lit plaza in the south to a ruined shrine in the north. Levels 1 to 20 can all be earned here.

Map of the valley

North is up. You arrive at the spawn plaza in the south and work your way north. Numbers mark landmarks; letters mark the harder outer hunting grounds.

Map of Cloudmist Valley A top-down ink map. The spawn plaza and paifang gate are at the bottom. A stone road runs north across a stone bridge over the Lotus Pond, then up to the Ruined Shrine at the top. The Bamboo Grove lies to the west of the road and the Fox Hills to the east. Six harder hunting grounds line the outer edges and corners. Bamboo Grove Fox Hills Lotus Pond Ruined Shrine Spawn Plaza 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ABCDEF N 050 units

Landmarks

  1. Spawn Plaza

Where every journey starts, at the south end of the valley. Elder Lin, Lantern Keeper Mei, Gate Warden Wu and Notice Board Keeper Fen wait here. No monster spawns within 35 units, and you return here if you fall.

  2. Paifang Gate

A vermilion gateway with banners and couplets, where the lantern-lined path to the north begins.

  3. Pagoda of Echoing Bells

A small pagoda on the western side of the plaza. Its plaque is worth reading.

  4. Lotus Pond and stone bridge

A round lotus pond crossed by a long stone bridge. Jade Serpents lurk on the dry shore on both sides. Elder Lin's third quest sends you here.

  5. Bamboo Grove

The western grove: dense bamboo, Bamboo Spirits and the Bamboo Fiber that Lantern Keeper Mei needs for the plaza lanterns.

  6. Fox Hills

Rolling green hills in the east, home to Fox Spirits. They steal from travellers and sometimes drop a Fox Tail.

  7. Ruined Shrine

At the far north, on a hill. A Stone Guardian still defends it. See the boss notes below.

Outer hunting grounds

  2. East, below the hills

Boss

The Stone Guardian

It lost its master long ago and attacks anything that climbs the hill. It is slow, hits hard, and always tells you where.

  • Slam. A ring appears under one player and strikes after about two seconds.
  • Stomp. A wide ring around the Guardian itself. Back away when it glows.
  • Scatter. Below half health it throws three smaller rings around a player. Spread out and keep moving.
  • Enrage. After two and a half minutes of continuous combat its damage rises by half. Finish it.

Everyone within 70 units when it falls is credited with the kill, and defeating it grants Jade, a rare currency. Bring a Physician.
